A musical nite was held on Sunday, 24th Feb’08 at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai for raising fund for the Free Paediatric Heart Surgeries and was enchanting with the presence of leading Singers, Music Directors from the Malayalam and Tamil film industry. The lighting of the lamp was performed by famous music Director Shri.Dakshinamoorthi in presence of audience of more than 9000.
The brand ambassador of the project Shri.Kamalhasan conveyed the positive message of serving the society by associating with a noble cause and also conveyed that he considered the present world as “Swargam” for which we need to contribute to make everyone happy in this world. Shri.Kamalhasan had also sung two songs; one in Malayalam and one in Tamil to the delight of the audience who had earlier accorded for a standing ovation when he had come on the Dias. The Bharathanatyam performance by renowned actress Shobana along with her students was graceful with audience witnessing an awesome performance. Nearly 32 Singers and Music Directors participated in the event and each-one of them expressed their happiness to perform for a noble cause and in front of stalwarts of Music industry and of-course the audience who had gathered in such a large numbers to be part of the Project.
A Cheque for Rs.75,00,000/- (Rupees Seventy Five Lakhs) has handed over to the officials of Madras Medical Mission (MMM) by the officials of WMC Chennai Province. Earlier a sum of Rs.25,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Lakhs) was handed-over to MMM during the press meet held on 30th Jan’08 with regard to the project.
The audience were highly impressed with the charity project undertaken by WMC in particular Paediatric Heart Surgeries for those little hearts who otherwise couldn’t dream to get the treatment. After the event there has been enquires to contribute for the noble cause which shall also facilitate for accommodating more number of Children for the surgeries.
The members of WMC Chennai Province have worked hard to host an event of this magnitude successfully. The organizers have now revised the target for the heart surgeries to 125 which they plan to do with the support of its well wishers. Contributions from invited to accommodate more number of Children in the Project. |
