On March 31st the Houston Province of World Malayaslree Council organized a beauty Pageant for raising fund for the health care of the  economically challenged mothers and children of Kerala.  Stafford Mayor Scarcella  was the Chief Guest while  Councilman Ken Mathew , Dr. MV pillai and Global President of WMC Mr. Alex Vilanilam Koshy were the guests of honor. Dr. MV Pillai delivered the key note address.

The Mayor aqppreciated the project undertaken by the immigrants for their sisters back in Kerala and he put on record his deep admiration for the ladies of Kerala doing great humanitarian work in the Stafford city of Texas. Alex Vilanilam declared that World Malayalee Council and Fokana are working together along with other charity organizations for uplifting the downtrodden masses of their motherland. He appealed to all pravasee malayalee brothers and sisters to come united to work with other ethnic communities of India inorder to establish an identity for the people of India origin in the mainstream communities of America.

In the morning the seminars conducted by Mr. Easo Jacob and Councilman Ken Mathew for the youth were greatly admired by all. Mr. Easo Jacob's workshop on general awareness and Councilman Mathew's  guidance session for the children were of immense value for the teen agers.

Miss. Nisha Chakungal won the crown of 'Mamatha' Queen. Film actor Divya Unni  and dancer Sunanda Nair were present with their students to present beautiful cultural shows and in guiding the youth in the Pageant show. Ms. Ponnu Pillai, the Province President, Ms. Fancymol Mathew Pallathumadam, Secretarey, Mr. Dias Damoderan, Regnl Associate Secretary were leading a team of committed activists to make the pagreant a big success.

The other local and regional leaders of WMC  and Fokana  such as Mr. Easo Jacob the PR officer of Fokana,  the WMC Regnl President  Mr. Philip Thomas, Secretary Mr. John Shery, Chief Election Commissioner Gopala Pillai, Former Chairman and President of Kerala Association of Houston Mr. Abraham Eapen, current Province Chairman Mr. George Kakkanat, Vice Chairpersons Gopalakrishnan, SK Cherian, Jacob kudassanad , Rajesh kumar were the driving forces behind the scene.
