New Year Message 2008

Dear Friends:

This is the season people all over the world exchange greetings & gifts, sharing love, caring with compassion and wishing for a world of peace, happiness and prosperity. The divine goodness in every human being craves for this goodness, but nobody is spared of the agony and despair of troubles and calamities in different parts of the world. Greed, arrogance and ideological differences take stage over forgiveness and love and respect for one another.

Our noble organization the, World Malayalee Council, was established with a basic concept for strengthening and bringing together the goodness in every Malayalee for promoting mutual respect, mutual help and to build a model community in which ever country he or she lives. Over time we shifted our ideals and 'modus operandi' and it is time to restore our ethos and harmony and tranquility that we hoped for in our organization.

A new year is dawning and let it be a year of strengthening our organization, inclusive of all and not exclusive of few. Let us work sincerely to ensure transparency and integrity by correcting our systems and styles of leadership.

Wish you and all in your families a ‘Peaceful and Happy NEW YEAR 2008.

With warm regards
Alex Vilanilam Koshy,
Global President,
World Malayalee Council, Inc.

ONAM MESSAGE  2007

Onam is the Harvest Festival of Kerala and it is celebrated through generations with great joy and happiness, breaking all barriers of caste and creed. An epical story of a just king- Maha Beli and his people who lived in harmony and peace without any socio-economic-political exploitation are projected as the central theme for this celebration.

The people of Kerala found goodness in every human being and always dreamt for a community where all beings lived in happiness, prosperity and in harmony with nature and themselves.   We Pravasees, the migrated children of Kerala, living all over the world also cherish and nurture that dream. This dream motivated us to migrate all over the world and achieve prosperity and happiness. But, does our dream really come true? May be or may not! Only future generations can prove that.

Alex Vilanilam Koshy
Global President

At this juncture we may look into ourselves and our community to evaluate our situation and to find out to which direction we are moving. Is it not time for us to come together and work together beyond all types of walls around us-religious, political and economic?   Can't we build a community that can be a model for other communities around us to follow for family values, mutual trust and compassion for each other? Real love and compassion should come from heart and that must be transformed into sacrificial actions rather than on 'hollow' words. Let our actions be for uniting and for unity to build a world of Maha Beli.

WISH ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS A VERY HAPPY ONAM AND A PROSPEROUS MALAYALAM YEAR.

Alex Vilanilam Koshy
Global President of WMC

President's Message (Jan-2007)

Dear Friends:

First of all, let me send each and everyone of you and your families the warm greetings from my family and friends in America in this great season of sharing the ‘Divine Love', while welcoming a new and prosperous New Year 2007.

As your President of the World Malayalee Council, this noble organization of Keralites all over the world, this is my first message through a print media. I wish to share with you my goals for my two-year term as your President. The most important items on my agenda are the following:

(1) Improving upon and introducing systems for transparency of accounts and accountability of officials.
(2) Healthy extension or expansion of World Malayalee Council into unreached areas.
(3) Smooth and successful implementation of projects and programs already undertaken and committed.
(4) Strengthening/streamlining activities of the Forums of WMC.
(5) Winning the support of other Malayalee organizations for promoting joint programs beneficial for the Malayalee Diaspora and for the brothers and sisters in Kerala.

Ours being an informal, public-supported, non-profit organization, it is always very challenging and extremely difficult process to achieve all the goals we set forth, without the whole hearted support and active involvement of every one in our organization's leadership. My future communications with all my fellow leaders and members of WMC will be concerning these points and I sincerely expect your positive responses.

We all must support each other and correct ourselves and help others to correct themselves through direct personal touch. In order to achieve this, let us pledge ourselves that we will not expose our members by sending out e-mails of public criticism or conflict issues, but restrict all constructive criticism or opinions within ourselves, that is within the WMC executive/ general body groups, working as a single organizational body. Always discuss with concerned individuals over phone, as far as possible, on matters of criticism or corrections needed, before issues are taken up to the appropriate body.

Another important aspect to be taken care of for the successful implementation of any programs or projects is the democratic way of involving all concerned and strictly adhering to the decisions of executive bodies, at every level of WMC and its Forums. Get ourselves involved by active participation in programs and do justice to the positions we hold.

Every member of WMC must be able to ask ‘What should I do for WMC this month?' as a result of leadership interaction with the members. Let our spouses and children feel proud to be a part of WMC and its activities, rather than being passive ‘observers'. Let every one in leadership take this as a challenge and win over their families first, before going out to our communities for meeting our objectives and program targets.

May I look forward to your active involvement, participation and support to make my function easy and to make your President succeed in taking our world renowned organization to greater heights of success.

Wish you all :

“A JOYOUS SEASON OF SHARING LOVE & A VERY HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2007”
